1. It is widely assumed that the name of the Angel of Death is ‘Azrail (Azrael), but there is nothing in the Quran or the Sunnah to indicate that this is his name. 2. Based on this, we cannot be certain whether this is his name or not. We should refer this matter to Allah and call him as Allah calls him, the ‘Angel of Death’.

Angels in Islam are a part of the world of the “Unseen” which we cannot comprehend. Allah has told us about them in many places in the Quran and via His Prophet Muhammad. Belief in angels is one of the six pillars of faith without which there is no faith.
