Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly:
In Islam there are rules
and guidelines concerning a woman working. A woman cannot work in a place
where Allaah is disobeyed or in a place where there is mixing with men. Her
work should be for a necessary or urgent purpose, because she has a great
mission and important work to do in her house, raising her children and
serving her husband, and guarding his house and his wealth, and no one can
take her place in these roles no matter how much the arrogant deny her role
and fabricate lies about it. They just want women to go out, although they
know the importance of what she does in her home.
The scholars of the
Standing Committee said:
It is not permissible for a
woman to work in a place where there is mixing with men. What she must do is
observe proper shar’i hijab and avoid places where men gather, and she
should look for permissible work that does not involve any of these things
that Allaah has forbidden. If a person gives up something for the sake of
Allaah, Allaah will compensate him with something better than it. Allaah
says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And whosoever fears
Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out
(from every difficulty).
3. And He will provide
him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in
Allaah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allaah will accomplish his
purpose. Indeed Allaah has set a measure for all things”

Secondly:
We do not think that this
kind of job is permissible even if those who are asking for refugee status
are genuine, because the basic principle is that it is haraam to settle in
kaafir lands. If we add to that the fact that they seeking help by lying in
order to achieve that, this reinforces the prohibition and it is not
permissible for anyone to help them in that. We know that there are cases of
necessity for some people who need to resort to settling in that country,
and special rulings apply to them as cases of necessity, but we are talking
about work that deals with all of them and does not differentiate between
cases of necessity and others.
In many questions we have
discussed the issue of settling in kaafir lands and the evils that result
from that, and the conditions which must be met by the one who settles there
for a legitimate shar’i reason which makes it permissible for him to settle
there. Please see the answers to question no.

Thirdly:
Lying is a blameworthy
characteristic according to the laws of Allaah, and it is contrary to faith,
as Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq (may Allaah be pleased with him) said. Helping these
false refugees is cooperating in sin and transgression, which is haraam
according to the laws of Allaah. Allaah says (interpretation of the
meaning):
“Help you one another in
Al‑Birr and At‑Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one
another in sin and transgression. And fear Allaah. Verily, Allaah is Severe
in punishment”
[al-Maa’idah 5:2]
al-Haafiz Ibn Katheer (may
Allaah have mercy on him) said:
Allaah enjoins His
believing slaves to cooperate in doing good, which is righteousness, and in
avoiding evil, which is piety, and He forbids them to support one another in
falsehood or to cooperate in sin and haraam things.

Thirdly:
It is good that you have
given up this work. As for the money that you earned from it, if you did not
know that your work was haraam, or if someone issued you a fatwa stating
that it was permissible, then your taking it was permissible for you, so
long as you give up the work immediately. This is what has happened in your
case, and you can make use of that money. But you should repent sincerely
for what has happened, and do a lot of righteous deeds, especially charity.

We ask Allaah to accept
your righteous deeds and to increase you in guidance and righteousness.
And Allaah knows best.
